Yes, Bum Bum is part of the Becoming Education network, an educational project for children aged 0–13. This membership allows the school to benefit from pedagogical research, shared tools, and continuous professional development through the Becoming Academy, while maintaining its local identity.
The child is an active protagonist of their own development. They are encouraged to explore, ask questions, and experiment in an environment that respects their individual pace and values their uniqueness. The goal is to allow everyone to realize their potential within a welcoming community.
Bilingualism
Yes, bilingualism at Bum Bum nurseries is a core value that forms part of everyday life: from relationships and routines right through to the very way children learn. Italian and English coexist on a daily basis, allowing children to engage with both languages naturally from the moment they join the nursery.
English becomes part of Bum Bum’s daily life through lively communication and spontaneous exposure. The teachers integrate the language into routines, play, music and reading aloud, making it an integral part of everyday interactions and activities.
Every opportunity – from workshops to outings in the local area – thus becomes a means of discovering the world through language.
No, it isn’t necessary. This approach makes learning spontaneous and natural, without any pressure. Children are immersed in a bilingual environment where English becomes a tool for discovering the world through direct experience.
Daily Life
At our various centres in Biassono, Desio and Monza, the timetable is organised flexibly to meet the needs of families:
- Before school: from 7.30 am to 8.00 am.
- Part-time: from 8.00 am to 1.00 pm.
- Full-time: from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm.
- After-school care: extended until 6.30 pm.
The day follows a familiar and reassuring routine, punctuated by times for welcoming the children, play, snacks, lunch, personal care and rest. Every day, the nursery staff organise opportunities for discovery using natural materials, creative workshops and small-group activities.
Yes, the Biassono and Desio centres have on-site kitchens and also deliver to Monza. The menus are seasonal, balanced and designed in consultation with expert nutritionists, before being approved by the ATS. Lunch is seen as a valuable educational opportunity to foster independence, a sense of community and a culture of healthy eating.
We take the utmost care with regard to food intolerances. For younger children, the menu is agreed upon by the family, the nursery and the paediatrician to ensure that new foods are introduced gradually.
Yes, Outdoor Education is a core value and a way of life at Bum Bum every day. The outdoor environment is seen as an extension of the classroom: we make use of the private gardens at our sites, such as the large, tree-lined garden in Biassono or the green spaces in Desio and Monza, which are genuine open-air classrooms featuring trees, hedges and small vegetable patches. We also practise Urban Outdoor Education, transforming the neighbourhood, shops, parks and markets into daily opportunities for discovery and civic engagement.
Settling in and relations with families
We follow the Participatory Settling-in Programme. The programme usually involves three days at the centre with one parent actively present; the subsequent stages are flexible and tailored to the child’s cues and readiness.
Communication is daily and based on trust and collaboration. We use Kindertap, the app we use to update you every day on meals, rest, experiences, and useful information. We also practice visible learning: through photos, videos, and diaries, we narrate the children’s growth processes. Additionally, our educationalist constantly supports the team and families to strengthen the educational partnership.
Every child has the right to learn according to their own characteristics. Our educators and teachers are trained in managing IEPs/PDPs (PEI/PDP) and collaborate with specialists to ensure attention to the uniqueness and individual pace of each child.
Admissions and Visits
You can book a visit or register for Open Days by filling out the contact form on the “Visit schools” page.
The coordinator will welcome you to show you the spaces and explain the typical day. Usually, the visit lasts between 45 minutes and one hour.
The process begins by filling out a contact form; subsequently, the school team provides all information and guides the family through the next steps.
