Our spaces

The spaces at Becoming Education are created by listening to the children and their needs.

At the Bum Bum Nurseries, too, the spaces are designed to meet the changing needs of growing children: spending time together and enjoying moments of intimacy, moving about and resting, encountering something new and recognising what brings them comfort.
At Desio, every space plays a specific role throughout the day. The classrooms, the square and the garden come together to create a seamless flow between welcoming children, play, workshops, daily routines and outdoor life.

In this way, the environment gives the children a sense of belonging to a unified world that they can explore with their eyes and their bodies, a world that becomes more familiar and easier to understand with each passing day.

There are places designed for socialising and others for intimate moments. Spaces that encourage movement and areas for resting. Settings that surprise and open up new possibilities, and familiar settings that offer reassurance and stability.

The garden

The garden is a living space that is constantly changing. Every year we see the branches of the weeping willow grow longer, providing an open-air setting for so many spontaneous games.

Here, children can explore, collect natural materials, observe, create, move about and try out sensory and motor activities. On mild days, the garden can also become a place to enjoy lunch outdoors.

Small vegetable patches allow children to get their hands dirty, sow seeds, watch the plants grow slowly and discover the link between what grows in the garden and what ends up on the table.
